IOWA CITY, Iowa — It was showdown time at Iowa City, as aspiring Ohio State collided with once beaten Iowa. And for the seventh straight week, Ohio State prevailed.

The efficient, big play Buckeyes, exploded for 21 second quarter points while a quick, determined Ohio State defense shut down the Iowa attack to win convincingly 31-10.

Ohio had a shaky start when Iowa blitzed Jim Karsatos on the first possession and returned a deflected pass 17 yards for a quick score. This was to be Iowa’s only touchdown of the game.

A 72-yard scoring pass from Karsatos to Cris Carter got the Buckeyes rolling in the second period, Karsatos hooked up with Everett Ross on another scoring pass, this one for 38 yards.

Eric Kumerow and Chris Spielman were dominate defensively players for the Buckeyes in the impressive win.
