Recap

MADISON, Wisc. — Seven Ohio State turnovers, six in the second half, helped Wisconsin to its fifth win over the Buckeyes in the last six meetings, 26-24, in Madison.

The Buckeyes (5-3-1, 3-3) had built a 24-13 halftime lead before two fumbles and four interceptions brought the Badgers (3-6, 1-5) back into the game. Despite the miscues, OSU had a chance to win the game on a 22-yard field goal attempt by Matt Frantz with 6:57 to play, but the kick failed.

Ohio State ran for all three first half touchdowns and added a Frantz field goal. Wisconsin’s Todd Gregoire tied the school record by connecting on all four of his three-point tries, including the eventual game-winner from 41 yards with 10:49 to go in the game.

OSU had two possessions following Gregoire’s final field goal, with drives ending in Frantz’s missed field goal and an interception of Greg Frey’s pass by Don Davey after being tipped by Chad VandeZande.

The Buckeye defense limited Wisconsin to 46 total yards in the second half. Chris Spielman had a game-high 16 tackles, a fumble caused and a sack.
