Columbus, OH — The second-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes dominated the Iowa Hawkeyes with a decisive 54-10 victory at Ohio Stadium. The Buckeyes capitalized on six Iowa turnovers, showcasing a relentless defense and an explosive second-half offense.

Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud completed 20 of 30 passes for 286 yards, throwing four touchdown passes in the second half to four different receivers: Marvin Harrison Jr., Emeka Egbuka, Julian Fleming, and Mitch Rossi. Running back Miyan Williams added a 2-yard rushing touchdown in the first quarter.

The Buckeyes’ defense set the tone early, with safety Tanner McCalister intercepting Iowa quarterback Spencer Petras on the game’s first play. McCalister recorded a second interception later in the game, becoming the first Buckeye since 2019 to achieve multiple interceptions in a single contest. Linebacker Tommy Eichenberg contributed with a 15-yard interception return for a touchdown in the second quarter, extending Ohio State’s lead to 26-10. The Buckeyes’ defense limited the Hawkeyes to 158 total yards and forced six turnovers, including three interceptions and three fumble recoveries.

Iowa’s lone touchdown came from defensive lineman Joe Evans, who returned a fumble 11 yards for a score in the first quarter, briefly giving the Hawkeyes a 7-3 lead. Offensively, the Hawkeyes struggled, with quarterbacks Spencer Petras and Alex Padilla combining for three interceptions. Tight end Sam LaPorta was a bright spot, recording six receptions for 55 yards.

Ohio State kicker Noah Ruggles was perfect, converting four field goals in the first half from distances of 46, 41, 35, and 26 yards. The Buckeyes’ defense was led by safety Lathan Ransom, who tallied eight tackles and forced a fumble.

With this win, Ohio State improved to 7-0, while Iowa fell to 3-4, marking its third consecutive loss.
