Columbus, OH — The third-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes defeated the Rutgers Scarlet Knights 49-10 at Ohio Stadium, extending their dominance in the Big Ten.

Rutgers (3-2, 0-2 Big Ten) capitalized early when defensive back Max Melton recovered a muffed punt by Ohio State’s Emeka Egbuka at the Buckeyes’ 18-yard line. Quarterback Evan Simon connected with wide receiver Sean Ryan for a 14-yard touchdown, giving the Scarlet Knights a 7-0 lead.

Ohio State (5-0, 2-0 Big Ten) responded swiftly. Running back Miyan Williams, starting in place of the injured TreVeyon Henderson, led the offense with a career-high 189 rushing yards and five touchdowns, tying a school record. Williams’ performance included scoring runs of 2, 1, 1, 70, and 2 yards.

Quarterback C.J. Stroud contributed with 154 passing yards and two touchdowns, including a 36-yard strike to wide receiver Julian Fleming. Wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. added a 4-yard touchdown reception.

Defensively, Ohio State linebacker Steele Chambers led with 11 tackles, including two for loss, and an interception. Defensive end Zach Harrison forced a fumble and deflected a pass that led to Chambers’ interception.

Rutgers’ defense saw notable performances from linebacker Tyreem Powell, who recorded his third sack of the season, and defensive back Avery Young, who intercepted Stroud on the first play of the second half.

The Buckeyes amassed 413 total yards, with 252 on the ground, while limiting the Scarlet Knights to 187 total yards. Ohio State’s defense held Rutgers to a 1-for-11 conversion rate on third downs.
