IowaRecap
COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Buckeyes pitched their first shutout in 33 games, in the process of recording their fifth straight victory and moving into a tie for second place in the Big Ten race.
Ohio State used a ball-control offense to keep Iowa off the scoreboard. The Buckeyes’ first TD drive covered a modest 40 yards, but their next three were 80, 87 and 79, respectively, and used up almost 16 minutes.
Freshman outside linebacker Alonzo Spellman set the defensive tone early, forcing an Iowa fumble that set up the Buckeyes’ first TD. Iowa threatened only once, but the Buckeyes blunted that thrust with a goal-line stand just before halftime.
