Post-OSU Update: Roy Nichols was shot in the abdomen on January 18, 1992 while working as a bouncer at AKA Fletchers. Nichols was hospitalized and recovered.

1990 Media Guide: Has waited patiently the past two years and now appears ready to step in and take over at quick tackle … had an excellent spring, and surprised some people by outdueling redshirt freshman Alan Kline for the starting spot … physical, agile player, who knows the OSU system and is a hard worker … came to Ohio State as a defensive lineman … has also played guard … has made significant improvement during the past year … determined to have a good year in 1990.
1989: Played in all 12 games as a backup to Joe Staysniak but totaled just 41 minutes.
1988: Began the year at guard but moved to tackle early in the season and played behind Tim Moxley … only appearance was in the Illinois game.

HIGH SCHOOL: Won a total of eight letters in four different sports, including three in football … his four football teams posted a combined record of 40-7-2, with four of those losses coming his senior year … a standout defensive lineman, collecting 169 tackles as a senior.
