2005 Media Guide: Talented young player who could throw his hat into the ring at cornerback before the year is over … was redshirted last year as a true freshman and lacks experience, but has all the physical tools to be a standout … goes into the season as a backup at the spot opposite Ashton Youboty, but will be given every opportunity to play on a regular basis … could also be in the picture at nickel back and will help, too, on special teams.
2004 Media Guide: The younger brother of Buckeyes’ defensive back E.J. Underwood, the projected starter at cover corner this fall … would like nothing better than to work his way onto the two-deep and play alongside his brother this year (the two did not play together in high school) … is a lanky, quick-footed defender, with outstanding cover skills.
High School: Finished his senior year with 60 tackles … had 50 stops, 15 passes broken up and three interceptions as a junior … ranked as the 13th-best prospect in the state by The Ohio Football Recruiting News … Rivals.com ranked him as the 16th-best cornerback prospect in the nation and as the 13th-best overall prospect in Ohio … TheInsiders.com ranked him as the nation’s 14th-best cornerback prospect … also played wide receiver on offense … boasts 4.41 speed in the 40 … ran track in high school and was one of the top sprinters in the state, qualifying for the state meet … he and E.J. are the only set of brothers on this year’s squad.
Personal: Is the son of Elmer and Pamela Underwood.
