2000 Media Guide: Andre Griffin, the fifth Griffin to wear an Ohio State uniform and son of two-time Heisman Trophy winner Archie Griffin, returns for his third season in a Scarlet and Gray uniform. What he may lack in size and speed compared to other Ohio State backs, he makes up for with the ability to make people miss. The slithery, elusive Griffin is extremely tough to get a clean shot on, according to OSU defensive corps. He has a low center of gravity and knows exactly how to use it. “The other tailbacks in front of him really learn from him by watching how he makes tacklers miss time and time again,” Tim Spencer, running back coach, said.

1999: Made his collegiate debut and lone appearance against Iowa … rushed for six yards on three carries, including a career-high 4-yard rush up the middle … by coincidence, those carries came on the same day his father’s number was retired (the first ever at Ohio State).

1999 Media Guide: Andre Griffin spent the 1998 season practicing with the team at the tailback position. He practiced with the Buckeyes all last year but sat out the season.

Personal: Attended Shaker Heights H.S. and was all-Lake Erie League and second-team all-Ohio as a senior.
