1994 Media Guide: A tremendous young player who is on the verge of stardom … started for the first time last year and led the Buckeyes in tackles with 117 … won unanimous first-team All-Big Ten honors and was named to the Football News Sophomore All-America team … also named to an honorable mention spot on the UPI All-America squad … selected as the most valuable defensive player in the Holiday Bowl … has the complete package — can run, can hit, has great instincts, makes big plays and is an intense competitor… strong against the run and equally adept at dropping off and filling the passing lanes … led the team in tackles six times in 1993 and had five games with 10 or more tackles, including a career-high 18 against Michigan State … named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week after the Washington and MSU games … OSU’s Co-Defensive Player of the Year in 1993 (along with Dan Wilkinson) … the undisputed leader of the Ohio State defense … repeatedly makes big plays and has just scratched the surface of what should be an all-star career.

1993: Entered fall camp as a backup to Mark Williams on the outside, but moved inside on the first day of practice and became an immediate fixture there … started all 12 games and played 272 total minutes … had nine tackles in his first start against Rice and 14 tackles, a pass broken up and a key fumble recovery the next week against Washington … his 18 tackles against Michigan State included a career-high 14 solos… also had 17 tackles (13 solo) at Wisconsin … lone interception last year was against Northwestern … tackle totals last year included nine for losses.

1993 Media Guide: Will back up Mark Williams on the outside and will play a lot … a tremendously talented young football player with great athletic ability … learns quickly and has all the physical tools necessary to someday become a standout player … played in all 12 games last year and had 33 tackles … logged 90 minutes of playing time in 1992, the second highest number of minutes by an OSU frosh … six tackles against Minnesota was his top effort … had four tackles for loss, two of those coming against Iowa … one of the latter was his lone quarterback sack of the year … has added nearly 15 pounds since last season.
