Post-OSU Update: Jonathan Newsome transferred after the 2010 season to Ball State. After sitting out a year, Newsome was a force for the Cardinals, making 116 tackles (24 TFLs) and 16.5 sacks. He earned first-team All-MAC honors as a senior. Newsome was selected as a fifth-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft by the Colts. He played 30 games over two seasons with the Colts, recording 7.5 sacks and five forced fumbles. The Colts released him after the 2015 season due in part to a marijuana possession arrest. That was enough to end his NFL career and he then moved on to the CFL, where he played for three teams over four seasons. (updated: Aug. 2025)
