2015 Media Guide: Jared Drake is a sophomore in his first year with the football team … the communications major was an invited walk-on to the team in the summer of 2015.

High School: Drake was a five-sport letterman at Upper Arlington and Westerville Central (his parents moved to Westerville prior to his junior year) and with an impressive array of football accomplishments, including being named first-team all-Ohio and the Columbus Dispatch’s 2013 metro player of the year … these honors coming after a record-setting senior season when he threw for 2,454 yards and 26 touchdowns, and rushed for 640 yards and eight touchdowns and helped Westerville Central advance to the state playoffs with a 10-2 record … also averaged over 39 yards per punt for coach John Magistro, who coached Buckeye great Joey Galloway once upon a time … Drake was named the captain of This Week News’s Super 25 team … two-time all-Ohio Capital Conference selection … helped Arlington win the 2012 state lacrosse title.

Personal: Is the son of Cathy and Peter Drake … his sister, Lauren, is a senior at Ohio State after starting out at Oregon as a lacrosse player … his mother was a diver at Cincinnati and a grandfather,
Phil Drake, was a backup quarterback and letterman on Ohio State’s 1942 national championship squad.
