Post-OSU Update: Erik Haw transferred to Jackson State for the 2006 season. In Spring of 2005, Haw was cited by OSU police for marijuana possession. I’m unclear if Haw was dismissed from the team for this incident. At Jackson State, Haw 1,001 rushing yards over two seasons, scoring 17 total touchdowns (16 rushing, 1 receiving). (updated: Aug. 2025)

Weight: 212 (2005), 210 (2004)

2005 Media Guide: Talented young running back with size, speed and power … expected to contend with sophomore Antonio Pittman and true freshman Maurice Wells for the starting tailback spot … is the most physical of the OSU running backs and will play a lot of football either as the starter or a change-of-pace back … certainly looks the part of a Big Ten back … won’t hesitate to lower his head and take on a defender in an attempt to pick up extra yardage … playing a position that is wide open and will have every chance to show what he can do in the fall.

2004: Played on the scout team and drew rave reviews from the Ohio State defensive staff … was redshirted.

High School: One of three running backs in the incoming freshman class … combines size, speed and power with great intensity … put up big numbers in high school against good competition and the coaches are anxious to see him in action on the collegiate level … was clocked at a warp-like 4.21 in the 40-yard dash at the Ohio State summer camp prior to his senior season at Independence and immediately got everyone’s attention … rated as the top running back in the Midwest by SuperPrep, which rated him as the 11th best running back in the nation … rated as the 18th best running back in the nation by Prep Football Report … rated as the 58th best overall prospect in the country by TheInsiders.com … Rivals.com rated him as the 24th best running back in the nation … rushed for 3,038 yards – sixth best in Ohio history – and scored 30 touchdowns as a senior, averaging more than 8 yards per carry … shared Ohio Division II Offensive Player of the Year honors … rushed for 1,271 yards and 14 touchdowns as a junior … also a track standout at Independence, running the 100 and 200-meter dashes and participating with the 4×100, 4×200 and 4×400-meter relay teams.

Personal: Is the son of Anthony Sharp and Cornelia Haw.
