Post-OSU Update: Dave Monnot died in February 2022 after battling brain cancer. He was 50 years old. (updated Feb. 2022)

Pronunciation: MAWN-oh

Major: Journalism (1991-93), Undecided (1990)

Weight: 277 (1993), 275 (1992), 265 (1991), 261 (1990), 245 (1989)

1993 Media Guide: Beginning his third season as the starter at right guard … improved play and confidence have the coaching staff excited about his final campaign … if continues where he left off in spring practice, could be an all-Big Ten candidate … has great work habits and expects to perform well … started all 12 games last season and ranked second among the offensive linemen with 320 minutes.

1992 Media Guide: Began the 1991 season as a backup to Rich Frimel at defensive tackle, but was moved to offense shortly after fall camp opened and wound up starting nine games at right guard … played in all 12 games for a total of 203 minutes and had six games in which he played 20 minutes or more … expected to start this year, although Monnot will have to hold off an anticipated charge by junior Rod Smith … played very well last year considering his lack of offensive experience … coachable player, who learns quickly and has a bright future … would like to add 10 to 15 pounds.

1991 Media Guide: Will be in his second year as a backup for Frimel … played a total of 90 minutes in 12 games last year … finished with 18 tackles and had a sack and two tackles for loss against Northwestern … intelligent player who is especially good against the run … solid reserve with a bright future.

1990 Media Guide: Redshirted last season… coming off a good spring and will back up Rich Frimel at the tackle spot … aggressive young player with good speed and quickness … needs to become more physical, but, with experience, should be a fine player.

HIGH SCHOOL: First team all-Ohio in both wire service polls and an honorable mention selection on the USA Today team … Division IV Lineman of the Year in Ohio … led Central Catholic to the Ohio Division IV state championship and a 12-2 record his senior year … had 306 tackles (156 solo) for his career, including 129 (67 solo) as a senior … earned two letters in basketball … helped Central Catholic upset Division I power Canton McKinley his senior year, recovering a fumble, knocking down a pass and leading the team in tackles.

PERSONAL: Umpires in the summer … likes to read and collect comic books … hopes his journalism training will someday lead to a career as an editorial writer.
