2013 Media Guide: Chris Fields is poised to make a difference on the playing field as a fifth-year senior … one of the veteran receivers on the team with 29 games played, Fields has rededicated himself to being the best player he can be and his efforts may lead to more playing time and more starts, of which he has eight, but all came during the 2011 season … last season he played in eight games, and he never got down when he went through a three-game stretch of not seeing any action … true to his new mindset, Fields kept working and his efforts were realized one gloomy, October day in Columbus when he caught an undefeated-season-saving touchdown pass from Kenny Guiton with two seconds to play against Purdue … the 7-0 Buckeyes were trailing the Boilermakers, 22-14, when Guiton lofted a pass toward Fields in the left corner of the end zone … Fields got low and, using baseball-player instincts, scooped and cradled the ball for a score that, with the ensuing two-point conversion, forced overtime in a game the Buckeyes would win, 29-22 … his big day vs. the Boilermakers (three catches for 44 yards) also included a career-long 35-yard reception from Braxton Miller that set up another Ohio State score, and a smart, 8-yard punt return to the Ohio State 39 to start the game-tying drive … he would have just one more reception all season, but the lessons learned from sitting, continuing to work hard and making contributions have Fields, one of only 16 seniors on the roster and one of 11 fifth-year seniors, ready to lead in 2013.

2012 Media Guide: Chris is one of the veteran receivers on the team, having played in 21 games heading into the 2012 campaign and making eight starts … both games played and starts are second-most among the Buckeye receivers … he played in all 13 games in 2011 and started eight times … he caught eight passes for 114 yards and a 14.2 yards per catch average … he had two catches vs. Akron and two for 45 yards vs. Michigan … he as 11 career receptions … Chris is also a talented return specialist … he had five punt returns for 88 yards and a 17.6 per return average in 2011 … he had a huge return in the tense game against Toledo (a six-point Ohio State win), scoring on a 69-yard punt return just before halftime to give Ohio State a 21-15 lead.

2011 Media Guide: Potential-packed receiver with a significant upside.

2010: became part of the top four rotation … first college catch was a 10-yarder from Joe Bauserman in the Ohio win … 9-yard reception at Minnesota.

2010 Media Guide: Sure-handed receiver with a significant upside … working this spring behind Dane Sanzenbacher.

2009: Redshirted for the Rose Bowl and Big Ten champions … scout team workhorse: Toledo.

High School: Sure-handed receiver with a significant upside … had 61 receptions for 876 yards and 16 touchdowns as a senior … first team all-Ohio, all-NEC conference, all-Lake County for Coach Devlin Culliver … Lake County player of the year … O-D Bowl All-America … Big 33 game … Rivals 250 … Super Prep Midwest Top 50 … also a standout performer in baseball and track.

Personal: Son of Kathy and Brian Fields.
