2012 Media Guide: Verlon has been battling back from mid-season knee surgery in 2011 and is listed as a backup to Evan Spencer coming out of spring drills at one of the receiver positions … the knee injury, which occurred on a kickoff at the end of the Michigan State game, ended a fine red-shirt season that Verlon was having … he started at receiver in each of the Buckeyes first five games … he caught nine passes for 132 yards in those five games to rank second on the team in both categories at the time of his injury … he had three catches for 66 yards in his first game as a Buckeye – vs. Akron – and he had four receptions for 43 yards against the Spartans … he red-shirted the 2010 season as a true freshman.
