Post-OSU Update: Spencer Nelms earned his bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Ohio State and received a post-grad scholarship and attended Columbia Law where he then earned a Doctorate of Law and Masters in Public Administration.

After school, Nelms worked for various state and federal government agencies, including the IRS. He was a budget analyst for several of Bill Clinton’s cabinets. In 2016, Nelms passed away at the age of 52. He left behind a wife and two children (he was predeceased by one of his children). (updated: Mar. 2024)

1981: Was the top defensive line replacement in 1981, seeing action at both tackle positions as well as middle guard … played in all 12 games as a freshman for a total of 110 minutes.
