Post-OSU Update: Academic issues prevented Shawntel (Shaq) Rowell from enrolling before the 2008 season. Rowell planned to enroll in the winter of 2009, but instead went to junior college. He transferred to West Virginia and started there for two seasons.

High School: All-state, all-region and all-district defensive tackle … recorded 27 tackles, four sacks, seven TFL and a forced fumble as a senior for the Senate League champions … Big 33 game … also a track letterman … a member of the Play It Smart program.
