2015 Media Guide: Media guide rosters were checked at Ohio State for each year back to 1950 and Grant Schmidt certainly appears to be the first from the state of South Dakota to play football at Ohio State … an early enrollee (January 2015) in classes at Ohio State and a 4-star prospect by Rivals and 247Sports, Schmidt was rated as the No. 1 offensive lineman in his state and the No. 9 tackle in the Midwest … Rivals rated him the No. 26 tackle nationally while Scout had Schmidt as a Top 50 prospect.

High School: A four-year starter who helped coach Kim Nelson’s Roosevelt teams to back-to-back state championship games (2013 and 2014) in Class 11AAA and to 9-2 records … named a South Dakota Coaches Association first-team all-state pick and was a Semper Fi All-American.

Personal: Is the son of Sharon and Jay Schmidt.
