1984 Media Guide: Ohio State’s top defensive lineman last year … played exceptionally well down the stretch … a good team leader who will be one of the top tackles in the Big Ten in 1984.

1983: Started all 12 games and played 282 minutes … made 75 tackles, including six quarterback sacks, tops on the team.

1983 Media Guide: Seems much more confident this year … was named to the starting defensive team the first day of spring practice and remained on the first unit throughout.

1982: Won a letter playing in a reserve role … was used a total of 46.5 minutes, including one start against Stanford.

1982 Media Guide: Had a good spring practice and advanced to the second team behind Chris Riehm at right tackle.

1981: Saw brief action in two games as a freshman.

High School: An all-Ohio tackle at Centerville, where his teams went 27-3 … had an exceptional game in his team’s 20-14 loss to state champion Moeller High, when he made 13 tackles, including two quarterback sacks, and was named “Lineman of the Week” … played both guard and tackle in high school … top high school thrill came when he caught a star back from behind to save a shutout … captained his high school football team.

Personal: Hobbies are skiing and fishing … is a skiing instructor … his father played football and basketball at Michigan … from a family of four, including three boys.
