1993 Media Guide:  Has just one year of eligibility remaining after transferring to Ohio State last fall. . . sat out of game competition last season, but practiced with the squad on the scout team … has excellent size, strength, leadership abilities and sees the field well … hopes to challenge Bobby Hoying for the starting position … the most experienced of the Buckeye quarterbacks, but still needs to learn the OSU system … completed 10 of 20 passes for 150 yards, two TDs and an interception for the winning Scarlet team in the annual spring game.

Career: Started eight games at Arizona State in 1991 and completed 127 of 234 passes for 1,500 yards, eight touchdowns and 11 interceptions … sprained his shoulder against Nebraska and missed three games … top game was against UCLA, when he completed 28 of 48 passes for 295 yards and a touchdown … was a district and Pac-10 all-academic selection. .. played in five games in 1990, and was 23 of 49 for 277 yards, no TDs and four interceptions … completed 16 of 31 passes for 178 yards in only start against Oregon… was redshirted in 1989.

Other: Threw for 1,629 yards and 12 TDs as a senior (1988) at Cactus High School, where he earned first team all-state honors from The Phoenix Gazette … also earned All-America mention… also a two-time all-state basketball player… high school gridiron coach was Larry Fetkenhier … a brother, Howie, played outside linebacker at Arizona and his father, Howard, was an end at Arizona State… a business major who is considering a career in medicine … an OSU Scholar-Athlete.
