2014 Media Guide: Adolphus Washington is a true junior who has played in 22 games and started five times … he is once again healthy after being slowed throughout last season with a groin issue … that’s a good thing, because Washington can be a really fine player and his presence in the lineup reinforces Ohio State’s already-noteworthy defensive line … he enters his junior campaign with 45 career tackles and 7.5 tackles-for-loss, including five quarterback sacks … Washington has been named an OSU Scholar-Athlete.

2013: Washington played in 12 games and started five times along the defensive line (vs. Buffalo, San Diego State, Northwestern, Michigan and Clemson) … he came on the latter part of the season after missing two games – and not being 100 percent for others – with a groin issue … he registered 36 tackles, including 4.0 tackles-for-loss (12 yards) … he had quarterback sacks vs. Penn State and half-sacks vs. both Purdue and Illinois … he had a personal-best six tackles vs. Illinois and again vs. Michigan State in the Big Ten championship game.

2013 Media Guide: Adolphus Washington, on the strength of a fine freshman season in 2012 and an even better spring drills, is furiously gaining top-of-mind awareness as a young player to watch along the Ohio State defensive line … he played in 10 games last year for the undefeated Buckeyes and ranked third with 3.0 quarterback sacks for losses totaling 27 yards … his sacks, part of a nine-tackle freshman
campaign, came against Miami (in his first collegiate game), vs. Illinois and vs. Michigan … he managed to play 156 snaps on a veteran defense with a high of 31 plays vs. Central Florida … Ohio State lost all four last season starters along the defensive line to the NFL, but Washington looked powerful and unstoppable at the defensive end position this spring … and that is a really good thing.

High School: Adolphus was a Parade Magazine All-American, U.S. Army All-American and five-star recruit (Rivals.com; Scout.com; 247Sports.com) as a high school senior … he helped lead Taft High School to the 2011 Ohio state playoffs, registering 23.5 sacks, three forced fumbles and 90 tackles for coach Mike Martin’s Senators … he was named the state’s Division III co-defensive player of the year and a first-team Associated Press all-state selection … the No. 1 player in the state by Scout.com and 247Sports.com and the No. 2 player in the Midwest region by SuperPrep, Washington was regarded as the nation’s 25th-best senior by Rivals.com, and he was also considered the No. 3 defensive end prospect by Scout.com, No. 5 by Rivals.com and No. 7 by ESPNU … his junior stats were similar to his senior numbers (107 tackles and 19 sacks in 2010) when he helped Taft make its first-ever state playoffs appearance … an outstanding basketball player as well, he lead the Cincinnati Metro Athletic Conference in scoring and rebounding … he was named the Division III basketball co-player of the year in 2011 (after leading Taft to the state Final Four) and again in 2012 when he averaged 23.1 points and 14.3 rebounds per game … he also was named in 2012 as the Gatorade Ohio player of the year in basketball.

Personal: Adolphus is the son of Adolphus Washington, Sr. and Rhonda Edwards.
